On Monday, we devoted ourselves to the inventory. The members practiced their fine motor skills while peeling off the stickers, and practiced finding their way around the space while looking for furniture to stick them on.
On Tuesday, we sorted plastic utensils. The members were tasked with separating the wrong forks from the package and packing the correct ones in a separate box. With this activity, members develop an “eye for details”, that is, they practice distinguishing the correct product from the defective one.
On Wednesday, we prepared vanilla pudding with which we filled princess doughnuts. Culinary activities encourage teamwork, cooperation and creativity. Although it is essential to us that the dishes we prepare are healthy, we occasionally treat ourselves to something sweet so as not to create a negative psychological association to certain foods.
On Thursday, we took a “virtual” walk through the streets of the city. With the help of our psychologist Bernard, we learned to use Google Maps. Given that our primary goal is to make our members more independent, we use Google Maps to familiarize them with the environment in which they move.
To make the weekend carefree, we held a “Talking Room” – psychosocial support on Friday. We talked about privacy and attitude towards other people’s things. We emphasized the importance of communication and respect for personal space.
