“The Irrationalist” is out! What is it and who is behind it? This unique comic book almanac is the result of the work of the participants of the Kvarner colonies of authors’ comics and illustrations, Vol. 1. and Vol. 2, held from 2020 to 2022, organized by the DIP, in Rijeka!

“Irrationalist” is out! The editorial board of the first comics almanac called “Irrationalist”, consisting of Damir Steinfl, Damir Stojnić and Matija Pisačić, prepared the works of authors created at the 1st and 2nd Kvarner Colony of Authors’ Comics and Illustrations, which were held from 2020 to 2022, organized by the DIP, in Rijeka and Opatija.

The Kvarner colony of authors’ comics and illustrations has so far been co-financed by: Primorsko-goranska County (public needs in culture), City of Opatija (donations and sponsorships of GV), Business Club PartneRI, the DIP and other donors.

For the first time, after several years of efforts to bring together the quality works created during the activities of the 1^st and 2^nd Colony, without censorship and restrictions and in one place, this is finally being achieved. In two issues, as part of the program of the Third Kvarner colony, in 126 color pages. Promotions and a press conference will follow, and we are planning a Colony or a reunion of the authors in early November in Rijeka. In October 2023, we will set up an exhibition of works at the Academy of Applied Arts in Rijeka, and thus promote the Irrationalist. Follow us and join us in these promotions.

“The Irrationalist” is the result of the work of a group of authors from all over Croatia, who created original comics and thus enriched artistic expression in these areas. These are the works of the participants of the Colony from Split, Rijeka, Zagreb, Osijek and Varaždin, of different generations, from the younger ones to those who have been present on the art scene for dozens of years.

We are preparing the promotion of the Irrationalist in Rijeka and Opatija, as well as other places, but also at festivals and other gatherings of artists who work in comics:

1. Matija Pisačić, who participates in the festival and is a member of the editorial board, will be the event promoter.

You can get your copy of “the Irrationalist” “on the spot”, at the mentioned locations at festivals, in DIP Rijeka, and soon in the bookstores as well. You can also pay directly to the giro account of the DIP. The price is affordable, at 10 euros, and the purpose of the sale is to collect funds for the printing of the new issue. Of course, you can pay more, with an indication that it is a donation for the print of a new issue.
