The month of December 2023 was marked by many gatherings, for partners and associates to celebrate the cooperation achieved during the year. Thus, the Hilton Hotel Costabella gave us many opportunities and capacities to present our work to donors and future collaborators.
At the beginning of the month, on December 4th, 2023, we were invited and participated in the “Christmas party” for business partners of the Hilton Hotel. It was an opportunity to celebrate this year’s successes and plan future collaborations in a pleasant company.

Not long after the Christmas party, Hilton organized a new opportunity for presentation – “Social Sunday Brunch”. DIP was a partner at the Social Sunday Brunch event on December 10th, 2023. We had the opportunity to present the work of the DIP, so we presented the program of social services at the Friends Daycare Center. We also informed hotel guests about employment opportunities for persons with disabilities. Of course, we presented all we do in our Manual for Advocating the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
However, for our cooperation to be a business one as well, and for Hotel Hilton Costabella to once again show how socially responsible a company it is, we also got a job – to make holiday gifts for the Hotel’s employees. This year too, we were trusted with our new Little Pine Tree handicraft. Last year we made pine balls from wet felted wool.
Our Karmen, with the support of Nataša from the Hilton, is responsible for designing the look and composition of this pine decoration, the Little Christmas Tree. It was made by our members, with our support.
The materials from which the pines are sewn in our small workshop are satin and cotton. The balls are filled with lavender and lining, with a hand-printed pattern of green triangles blue balls and a wooden star.
Each pine tree is unique, the colors differ, and the strength of the matrix imprint is as well. Some pines have more lavender and less lining, and some just the other way around. Some seams are slightly slanted, some are completely straight. All these small details and differences between our pines speak about all our members, about the hands that made them, for weeks. Each of our members has given their special stamp to these Christmas pines, and that’s where their true value lies.
