A1 Do the Right thing – Fundraising event for the Drumming Circle

This is a fundraising campaign for our music therapy program called “Drumming Circle”. This therapeutic program is one of the activities from the social services program of half-day stay and psychosocial support, for the implementation of which the DIP has obtained a formal decision from the relevant Ministry and is carrying out the implementation. The drumming circle is conducted on a voluntary basis, thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of the program manager, Ph.D. Luka Aničić. Unfortunately, improvised, often repaired and worn-out drums and other instruments are used.

What do we need?

The positive effect on our members is visible during the duration of each new class, in the joy with which they welcome their mentor, and in the effort they invest. There are about 50 participants in this therapy group, and the Drumming Circle itself is conducted in two groups of about 20 drummers each (not all participants are always available). The activity takes place once or twice a week, for one hour, and sometimes we get carried away and it lasts even longer, thanks to the great interaction with the mentor of the Drumming Circle. We want to drum more, at least two to three times a week, we want to encourage our young talents and create a strong drumming circle, to share our rhythm with the public.

We need two things.

First, we need new drums. These people deserve quality and new instruments because with them they will increase the effect of this musical story. The musical equipment we work with is directly related to the program of the drum circle and its therapeutic results.

• 20 drums (African djembe drum) cost 2,000 euros or an average of 50 euros per person

Secondly, we wish to further improve the music therapy program and start working on an individual level. In order to make these changes, it is necessary to compensate the work of drumming circle and music therapy mentor, for which we need the sum total of 3000 EUR, for the implementation of the program during 2023.

• Compensation for the work of the mentor of the drumming circle program, EUR 3,000 for the work done during 2023.

So, to conduct music therapy in 2023, we need a total of 5,000 euros.
