The result of the project is the creation of the strategic development documents for the Dubrova Sculpture Park – Association of the Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium. The preparation of the Strategy for cultural and tourist valorization of the Park for the 10th annual period was prepared by the DIP, and the author is Marta Berčić. In addition to that, a Sustainability Study was prepared for the period from 2020 to 2025, as well as a video promotional material of a virtual walk through the Park and a number of other products.
The result of the work is the agreement on financing the Dubrova Sculpture Park program, and as proof of the effectiveness of the strategic document, it was signed immediately after the presentation of the results. It was signed by the County of Istria, the City of Labin, the Municipality of Sveta Nedelja, the Tourist Board of the City of Labin and the Mediterranean Sculpture Symposium Association. This type of financing was proposed as one of the measures in the Strategy. This is an example of public policies designed according to objective needs, i.e. based on strategic documents. “The city of Labin, as one of the partners in the RECOLOR project (Reviving and Enhancing artworks and Landscapes of the Adriatic), which is implemented as part of the cross-border cooperation program Interreg V-A Italy – Croatia 2014-2020, and was co-financed with funds from the European Fund for Regional Development, directed the activities of the pilot action to the Dubrova Sculpture Park. One of the results of these activities is the creation of a strategy for the cultural and tourism valorization of the Dubrova Sculpture Park, which was entrusted to the Rijeka Society for Research and Support (DIP), whose experts have many years of experience in the field of research in culture and tourism, but also in new social phenomena, such as social entrepreneurship, social inclusion and sustainable development.
Work on the strategy began at the beginning of 2020 and was supposed to reach its peak during March and April, but due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, the deadlines were postponed, and it was presented to the public in October of the same year. During that period of development, a comprehensive research of the existing documentation, interviews with key stakeholders, and a branding strategy proposal were made. The primary analysis is the one from the cultural aspect, in which, among other things, the existing situation is determined, but also the necessary steps that the stakeholders and the manager of the Park will have to implement in the next ten-year period, in order to adequately culturally valorize the space. From the tourist aspect, the focus is on sustainable tourism development, content proposals that can be offered to visitors, but also the importance of clearly defining the beneficiaries of these contents.
The City of Labin and its Administrative Department for Spatial Planning, Environmental Protection and Issuance of Building Acts, and the Administrative Department for the Economy and EU Projects; the Tourist Board of the City of Labin, TC of Sveta Nedelja, Municipality of Sveta Nedelja, Administrative Department for Sustainable Development IC participated in the creation of the Strategy. , Administrative Department for Tourism of IC, Administrative Department for Culture and Nativeness of IC, Mediterranean Cypriot Symposium Association and others all took part in the creation of this document”.
