4/4/2022. The kick-off meeting of the partners of the project EDUKOSI.turizam – EDUCATION OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES FOR JOBS IN TOURISM was held and financed by the European Social Fund in the financial period 2014-2020 within the framework of call UP.02.2.2.17 Improving the access of vulnerable groups to the labor market in the sector of tourism and hospitality II.

The project holder is the Poreč Public Open University, and the partners are the Dante Adult Education Institution, the Rijeka Research and Support Society, the Poreč Society for Invalids, and Mini Karavan Servis d.o.o., Poreč.

On that occasion, the Partnership Agreement was signed, and the details of the project activities were agreed upon

The goals of the project are:

1. Development and acquisition of professional knowledge of persons with disabilities necessary for work in the tourism and hospitality sector through the development and implementation of training programs and organized practical classes at the employer’s workplace
2. Improvement and enhancement of the professional and andragogic knowledge of experts from the tourism and hospitality sector, i.e., lecturers and mentors for working with people with disabilities
3. improving access to the labor market in the tourism and hospitality sector for people with disabilities.

11.3.2022. THE MINISTRY OF TOURISM AND SPORTS AND THE PUBLIC OPEN EDUCATION POREČ SIGNED AN AGREEMENT ON THE ALLOCATION OF GRANTS FROM THE EUROPEAN SOCIAL FUND

The Poreč Public Open University director, Snježana Radetić, 11.03.2022. signed a contract on allocating grants from the ESF to implement a project called: EDUKOSI.TURIZAM – education of persons with disabilities for jobs in tourism. The signing ceremony was held in the Ministry of Tourism and Sports congress hall, which announced the call “Improving the access of vulnerable groups to the labor market in the tourism and hospitality sector II” as an intermediary body last year.

This call aims to respond to the social needs of persons with disabilities exclusively through implementing practical training at employers in the tourism and hospitality industry, in cooperation with institutions for adult education and professional and other associations and institutions that deal with persons with disabilities. Taking into account the requirements for increasing the number of employees in tourism activities and the fact that a large number of people with disabilities in the Republic of Croatia are at risk of poverty precisely because of insufficient participation in the labor market and the lack of new knowledge and skills, the tourism and hospitality sector offers the possibility of quality social inclusion of people with disabilities.

For this purpose, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports signed 14 contracts and allocated slightly more than HRK 27 million. – We are happy that the People’s Open University project passed all qualitative checks and was selected as one of the 14 successful among the 54 submitted project proposals, says director Radetić.
